Andy Caldwell first hit the scene in 1994 with his debut single 'Superfunkidiculous' which quickly became an underground club hit, leading to a collaboration project with childhood friend Gabriel René. The pair (along with sultry singer/songwriter Gina René and turntablist Mei-Lwun Yee) formed the highly acclaimed outfit Soulstice. Caldwell and René produced and wrote music for the band's stellar 2001 debut Illusion and subsequent remix collection Mixed Illusions (both released on San Francisco's seminal electronic imprint OM Records).
