Brief Experience :
Dj Neil Grant is the laziest bastard. He comes from Vancouver, BC, Canada and typifies the west coast Canadian attitude of 'I'll do it later'. But there are certain times of the day when he gets out of bed and transforms into a calculated musical animal. He showed promise as a talented rock drummer through the 90's but just didn't want to put in the effort it took to make it to the big time and quit his band, Another White Male, to see them sign to Warner three months later and tour North America, ouch. Not as bad as that guy that quit the Beatles, but it still stings a little. Around this time he just wanted to go snowboarding every day, which he did by moving to the resort town of Whistler, BC. Sponsored by the age of 18, he saw no need to buck up and get his ass in gear; if it aint broke don't fix it. Wake up, go snowboarding, go back to sleep. ahhhhhhhh. This lasted for 6 years and, once again, he just wouldn't accept that success in any industry takes hard work and effort. Nope. Professional snowboarding career see ya later, was it good for you? In all this time a lot of vinyl records were fiendishly purchased. Hip hop, house, techno, soul, funk and disco (in that order). Dj'ing, looking like a suitable industry for such a lazy tit, fell together nicely taking a full time position at the Alibi Room in Vancouver (a supper club that hosted a party or three) and backing up various hip hop MC's in Vancouver and Seattle (Kyprios, Prevail and Moka of the Swollen Members). One day he drank a large coffee and surprised his friends and bought a plane ticket to China. No one knows why, including himself; but away he went. Landing in Beijing, his contact took him straight to Beijing hot spot, Suzie Wong, where he ended up on the decks for four hours, and through a haze of jet lag watched as raging Chinese girls stood on the tables and showed him their breasts; apparently not too common in China. 'I like it here', he mused. After jamming the Beijing club circuit (Cloud 9, Kiss, Lush, Alpha, Bed, Propaganda) for a summer he took a full time residency at Cinderella23 in fabulous Jinan, China. He is currently still there learning solid club dj'ing techniques from 1994 Philipino DMC championship 1st place qualifier Dj Aldwin Macapagal. Feeling adventurous, he just lacks that magical large coffee he needs to catapult him to his next random destination.
