Growing up with an affinity for rap, hip hop, and alternative artists, DJ Kapreme aka KP quickly found his true calling with the help of his brother, who exposed him to the true underground music scene and its many styles which differed from the commercialized club sounds. At the same time, his brother Todd began a crusade of his own along with other local crews to rebuild the Dallas scene. Funkhaven Productions was formed, consisting of Todd's own crew of DJs determined to put Dallas on the map. Funkhaven's influence began to spread across the Dallas scene, soon leading to the elevation of DJ Kapreme's reputation as he assumed his place among the top featured DJs.
