'w-i-s-h f-m, world radio here. Don't bother getting to your feet... gonna bring ya to your knees.' The record is dripping with sweat, as Wade casually throws the mic to the floor. Once the needle drops, he begins playing his patented three finger bongo, live, on the left turntable, while slowly backspinning a copy of Miles Davis' 'Bitches Brew' with his right hand into Coldcut's 'Autumn Leaves' on yet a third turntable. The anticipation builds as the whole room knows that one of his ultrafunky breaks looms just around the corner. Under his breath, 'Go ahead, motherfucker, label this...' The gig is La Belle Epoque, his weekly club at San Francisco's Dj institution, The Top. This sweaty crowd shakes out the spirit of Saturday nights past, on one of the more historic (and last) blocks of the Fillmore-Haight jazz district.
