Brief Experience :
Growing up in a small town in the cursed Mid-Ohio Valley, Robb Blak cut his teeth as an avid punk rock & heavy metal enthusiast adding vocals to a couple of local bands but never really felt inspired to pursue music, instead opting to become a sonar technician on a submarine in the US Navy, where he wore headphones, counted BPM's, and twiddled knobs for a living. After being stationed in Hawaii, though he found himself to become a regular on both the rave scene and the gothic/industrial scene, developing a passion for DJ culture, and the dark vibe of the industrial scene. After discharge from service, Robb started spinning old school industrial & dark techno with a couple of small production companies around Honolulu, developing a small, but loyal following. Very quickly, he caught the attention of the infamous Courtney, owner/promoter of Dungeon-Hawaii, and after several guest spots, finally became a resident, spinning at every Dungeon event from 2000 on and at Anti-Club, the Dungeon's smaller weekly event, both held at the E.Y.E. in Honolulu. Throughout that time, rave culture, and particularly trance music started to influence his style more and more, and through the influence of DJ's Morbid K and Merc started progressing into the world of EBM, mixing trance with harder edged industrial sounds. In late 2001, at the urging of his then-fiance, Robb moved to Portland,OR where he floored the local scene there with his deep,DARK style, throwing down amazing sets in two guest appearances @ the Martyrium in downtown Portland. However, Portland just wasn't his thing, so after a brief visit to Hollywood to check out his mentor Courtney's new Dungeon-Hollywood, he headed back east to the same small town he grew up in. There he started Osiris Productions, a small group of DJs and artists hell-bent on bringing the sleepy town into the 21st century, promoting Electropolis, a weekly club night devoted to electronic music @ the Varsity Club in downtown Parkersburg,WV. However the venue closed, and Robb decided to take some time off from DJing to form Impulse, an electro-industrial/EBM band with Jonathyn Mortichai, previously of the metal/industrial band HXD. The songwriting process is finished, and the first release is expected to be available by the end of 2004. Robb also has plans for a trance DJ mix CD in the upcoming year as well.
