Brief Experience :
DJ Kevin James started out as a mobile DJ when he was 16. He was doing weddings, parties, anything that paid some cash and gave him the opportunity to make people dance. Around the age 17, his close friends Bobby Tiexiera and 'Fish' started spinning Funk House / Tech House with some basic Gemini turntables and a Vestax mixer. This is what sparked Kevin's interest in house music. Before he was of age he had already began promoting for a local providence night club 'Metropolis', witch further fueled the fire to become a DJ. Kevin started with some Numark cd players, and skipped right over the vinyl. He now uses Ableton Live! in conjunction with a Mixer and a UC-16 Midi controller. 2 years ago friends Scott Teixiera , Bobby Teixiera, and Joe Faria started what is now known as Island 9. Island 9 got Kevin and good friend Roger Sobriero in to house music production. Starting out with Cubase SX and a run of the mill sound card, Kevin and Roger started to produce tracks that received a good response from friends and local DJ's. Kevin's sets tend to stay funky, and hopping. When Steve Porter put out the Porter House CD with 26 tracks mixed flawlessly in to 80 minutes, he paved the way for the new generation of DJ's, and this shows with Kevin's mix cds craming as many tracks on them as possible, while still keeping a good groove.
