Brief Experience :
Reed started deejaying at the age of 16 in his hometown of New Orleans, where the jazz culture inspired his passion for culturally diverse rhythms. He spun there until 1991, when he moved to Connecticut and continued to work as a DJ, traveling back & forth to NYC to study the talents of influences like Junior Vasquez, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and Danny Tenaglia. In 1996, Reed established New York as his permanent home and since then has enjoyed spinning in the company of many other DJ legends and inspirations. During his 20 years of DJing, Reed has remained true to his musical roots. He studied music theory at an early age and was trained for the opera & musical theatre, as well as choreographic design. His scholastic achievements resulted in a degree in radio, which continued to fuel his love for music. Reed has also gained a reputation as an accomplished video editor, with his works being seen in clubs all over the world. The culmination of his experience has led him to the point where production is now part of his performance. His production work is a testament to his ability, not only as DJ/producer, but also as a songwriter. Reed won his first award for Billboard Magazine's 10th annual Songwriting Contest. That song, 'Resurrect Me', went on to be signed by the famed West End Records label, and was nominated for a Grammy in the Dance music category. Since then, Reed has produced & remixed many songs for release, resulting in several top 40 Billboard dance singles. In 2004, he celebrated the launch of his own record label, Rambunctious Recordings, with the collaborative efforts of Warren Rigg ; together they are known as Raw Deal. Warren is also known for his work with DJ & Producer Tony Moran. Most recently, their song 'He Gives More' won ANOTHER first place award for the Billboard 12th annual Songwriting Contest. Reed's training has been vast and influential, with genres including house, electronic, disco, soul, funk, rock, new wave, alternative, trance, techno, tribal, and so on. While many DJs & producers adhere to one 'style', Reed draws from an eclectic well of experience, and applies all that inspires him to create distinct moods for specific events. In 2005, Reed was added to the respected panel of Billboard magazine reporters, and continues to build a broad following in all of his creative endeavors.
