Brief Experience :
The Detroit Master aka Felton Howard's multi-genre DJ style is rooted in his appreciation and first love of gospel music, tech, and uplifting house as well as garage, techno and disco. One of the remaining djs in the Detroit area that has had the opportunity to visit the Paradise Garage, meeting the legend Larry Levan, as well as visiting the BetterDays and meeting Tee Scott and Bruce Forest in New York. In 1976 Howard solidified his commitment to being a professional DJing some of Detroit's most popular clubs by becoming the first DJ in the city of Detroit, to own Technics 1200 turntables, a Bozak mixer and a huge Cerwin Vega sound system. The equipment was fitting for a work schedule that also made him the first in Detroit to play four nights a week creating 12 hour non-stop music for the crowd of 1500 people, when he was the resident DJ at the Climax2 in the '80s. In the '90s Howard took his years of club experience and opened up the favored underground spot Club Better Days, named after the club in New York because of the sound system, and in this capacity he opened up the booth to other DJs and managed to have one of the few late-night multicultural dance parties going on then. By the time the last party was thrown in between the walls holding this dark space together, Howard wanted to return to his first passion as a dj. His love of the music and technology got him a new toy in 2001 when he became one of the first few DJs to use the Final Scratch turntable and laptop interface. The DJ with the big skills to motivate any crowd and endless energy, wants people to know that house is not dead but just moved to a different location.
