Brief Experience :

History: The Silent Killah DJ Lex was born and raised in Astoria, Queens in New York City. He grew up listening to hip-hop r&b and reggae music since the early 1980's at the age of 9. He also had a love for Motown, classics, disco and soul ranging from the 1960's to the 1980's. People in his neighborhood grew up listening to freestyle, acid house and club music because of their predominantly European culture. Lex, being of Greek descent loved that music, but was one of the few that preferred hip-hop to house. In 1990, at the age of fourteen, dj lex bought his first set of turntables and a mixer. While perfecting his craft as a dj, he would play at sweet 16's, baptisms and school events to raise money for records and more equipment. He also played at house parties and social halls known as jams back in that day for exposure. These parties were for neighborhood kids that were too young to get into nightclubs. They came out to these jams to hear the latest hip-hop, r&b and reggae music. This gave Lex the opportunity to rock parties all night showcasing his skills to the neighborhood public until the parties got raided or shut down by cops.
