Cool climate elegance
VINTAGE 2007
I can't keep the words "annus horribilus" out of my mind when I think of the 2007 vintage. Our Glenora vineyards were devastated by frost on 16 October 2006, resulting in a loss of approximately 80% of our normal yield. Fortunately our Cambridge vineyard was virtually unaffected.
However, around every cloud there is a silver lining, and if nothing else the drought gave us magnificent ripening weather – warm and dry with plenty of sunshine. This in turn has meant that what little fruit we did pick has given us good quality wine with good intensity and surprisingly ripe flavours especially from some of the secondary crop.
The stand out wine from the 2007 vintage at this stage would appear to be our Pinot Gris.
SHOW POLICY
Due to the proliferation of wine shows around the country Meadowbank enters wines in only three shows:
The Royal Hobart Wine Show which attracts over 3000 entries from all over Australia and New Zealand.
The Tasmanian Wines Show traditionally judged by Huon Hooke, James Halliday and an internationally qualified guest judge.
The Derwent Valley Wine Show featuring only wines from the Derwent Valley.

FOOD |
The food is fresh, seasonal, and mouth-wateringly tempting
Hailing from the Mornington Peninsula, chef Simon West is no stranger to winery restaurants, nor cool climate wines. His focus is on the freshness and quality of his ingredients, which means that using seasonal produce is a priority, necessitating almost daily changes in the à la carte menu.
Mostly French provincial in inspiration, Simon's food is very wine-friendly, and with all our wines available by the glass, our staff can recommend fabulous food and wine combinations for you.
Not only are the seasons reflected in the menu, but also in the setting. Massive floor-to-ceiling windows make the most of the changing seasons, both in the vineyard and throughout the Coal River Valley. In the warmer months, poll position for lunch time dining is undoubtedly out on the flagstone terrace. There is plenty of shade, rolling green lawn, a children's play area complete with toys and a boules court for a little post-lunch entertainment.
Lunch is served daily from noon until around 3pm. Bookings are recommended. Lovely nibbly things, tea, coffee and wine are available all day, 7 days (10am - 5pm).
