Food, glorious, Tasmanian food
Nothing quite like it – and on the Estate we aim to use fresh local Tasmanian produce whenever we can.
Teez Café and Look Out is a great place to start the day with mountain views, cooked breakfast and real coffee. Let the entire day slide past, by staying on for morning tea with hot muffins, a bottle of local wine with lunch and then a freshly baked cake for afternoon tea. We will wake you up when it is time to go. more information >
The Highland Arms is a real Tasmanian pub with home made food, local beers, good wine, pool table, lots of space and an unusual decoration. The menu is innovative and the kitchen will even cook that enormous trout you caught – as long as you understand that the cooking process can shrink fish - so we will just have to trust you about how big it really was. more information >
The Wildside Restaurant may well be the gastronomic highlight of your holiday. Our Executive Chef will take you through each course, explaining the use of outstanding Tasmanian produce and giving a few secrets away – only now and then. Open most evenings, you need to book a table by 2.00pm please; four plus courses of Tasmanian gourmet dining complimented by fine wines. more information >
Food without wine is, of course, like a dog without a tricycle. Which will make a lot of sense by the time you have got even one tenth of the way through our wine list of over 300 showcased in a six metre 'Wall of Wine'. more information >
Back at The Lodge there is a malt selection of over 120 from all over the world. To be fair, most of them are from a cold hilly place on top of England – not surprising given that they are chosen by a man in a kilt who lives on the Estate and also chose our beautiful hairy cattle. more information >
For those who love the outdoors but who are unwilling to butter their own bread, we can help with picnics and all expedition provisions . more information >
Not that we want to stop you from doing some of the work – if that is what grabs your fancy... The Highland Store has a host of necessary luxuries and everyday necessities to cater for your culinary creativity. Groceries plus camping hardware toiletries and minor medical
