curly’s bar is located at 112 Murray Street Hobart, in the Tattersalls Hotel building. We provide a relaxed and friendly venue in Hobart’s CBD, hosting live local and touring acts and DJ's four nights a week. Having undergone extensive renovations, curly’s bar has distinct areas for guests to enjoy. The casual front dining area with plenty of comfortable seating contrasts with the more sophisticated main bar and dance floor area, with an open air heated beer garden at the rear.
The site at 112 Murray Street has had a long history providing hospitality and entertainment for the people of Hobart. It is believed to have been the site of the Turks’ Head Tavern during the 1830s, and there are reports that ‘Ashton’s Circus’ also used the site around this time. In 1857 the pub operated under the sign Bath Arms Inn – Circus and Stables, and was the home of most of Hobart’s cab drivers. The Inn was re-signed as the Tattersall’s Hotel and Stables in 1886. 112 Murray Street has been run as the Tattersalls Bar and Bistro, was nearly pulled down to create a car park in the 1980s, and was leased and operated as Cow restaurant until 2004. The curly’s bar team took possession of the site in early 2006, and look forward to another exciting chapter in the Tattersall’s Hotel buildings history.
