Situated as far south as you can go SYRUP NIGHTCLUB is the last hotspot before you reach Antarctica. And until they open a club down there on that frozen slab SYRUP is, âThe Nightclub at the end of the Worldâ.
Situated above a famous corner Pub, spread over two floors of convict hewn sandstone and timber this former Hotel-stroke-brothel turned Pub turned Club has been a favourite place for locals and travellers since the 1800âs. Having gone through some major internal refits over the past 100 years or so the exterior looks much the same as it did when the Rev. Knopwood was slaking his thirst downstairs in the pub that now bears his name.
The latest refit is a stunner and The Reverend would agree. The first floor where you find Tackyland every Friday and Saturday, has a bigger bar, more dance floor, new lights and sound, improved traffic flow and flash décor. The comfy chesterfields are back and the DJâs are now in a huge wine barrel.
Tackyland DJâs Rolly, Nick, Duncan, Noughts and Billy-Bob are firing 70âs, 80âs, 90âs and onwards at a mixed crowd that know every word to every song in the world. The atmosphere is second to none in Tasmania. Itâs like a party at your matesâ house every weekend. And you donât have to hang around and help them tidy up.
Second floor is the Dance Club. Itâs where you hear the banginâ techno and the blistering breaks. The smooth, deep, hard and heavy House. Itâs where the touring international DJâs and dance acts like to play. Syrup is the preferred venue in Hobart for Ministry of Sound, Tim Healy, Concord Dawn, Tom Novy, . Representing Hobart are residents Adam Turner, Gillie, DSKO,Timo, Modal Corney and Kir. Regular midweek hosts Mez, Chilli and Dave Webber and friends are spinning Funky Breaks and House.
